The ambivalence of the sea, infinite freedom or deadly frontier. For sanmon, the sea means the former. For him, the Mediterranean in particular is a place of inspiration and tranquillity. But for many less privileged people, the Mediterranean is a threatening, even deadly border that must be crossed. In the context of this release, sanmon deals with this field of tension, which is also reflected in the title mare nostrum, which goes back to the Roman Empire. On the one hand, its literal meaning is "our sea", on the other hand, mare nostrum was also the name of a large-scale aid and rescue operation for boat refugees by the Italian government.
